I was told my biological mother was French and a little bit of American Indian. That she was a college student in her mid 20’s. 5’4″, brown hair, hazel eyes. Some of that information about her was correct. I found out after I did my Ancestry DNA test though that Cosier is not a French last name. It’s actually English. My maternal grandfather, James Eslow Cosier, told everyone though that the family was French. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the first photo I ever saw of her, I was stunned by how much we looked alike. We have the same eyes, nose, even wore similar hair styles. Pamela Joyce Cosier, sadly, passed away before I even knew her name. Four years before I even had access to getting the document that had her listed as my biological mother, my original birth certificate. She left behind her husband, Dumitru whom she had married about a year after giving me up for adoption and her daughter, Juliana, my half-sister. Although I never met her, my aunt, my uncle, or my grandparents, I have Juliana and my cousins, Steve and Jeff. Steve’s father, my Aunt Suzanne’s first husband who I call Uncle Steve, has been extremely kind to me and has shared family stories. I only met her youngest sister, my Aunt Jill, once. She took me for a walk and showed me that house she had grown up in on West Marginal in Lakewood and I was stunned. I drove by that house lots of times when I took my kiddo to the doctor when my kiddo was younger. I always admired the tall columns on the house and thought it was a really cool home, never knowing until Aunt Jill told me that was the house my maternal biological family lived in. My grandmother Eunice Joyce, my biological mother Pamela, my maternal Aunt Jill, and my Grandfather James Eslow Cosier all lived in this beautiful home at one point in time. It’s on the border of Rocky River and Lakewood. I used to drive past and admire it when I would take my kiddo to the pediatrician. When my Aunt Jill showed it to me, I was shocked because I did always love the house when I drove past it. I had no idea too that when my biological mother and father were dating, she would bring him here to meet her family. Maybe that’s why I had a connection to this home even before I knew my family had lived there. Something inside me just drew me to it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When I met my Aunt Jill for the first and only time, she let me take a picture of a photo of my grandfather, James Eslow Cosier. It’s really the only photo I have of him.<\/p>\n\n\n
